Kathmandu
The largest city of Nepal is the political as well as cultural capital of the country. Kathmandu is a city where ancient traditions rub shoulders with the latest technological advances. However, it is the grandeur of the past that enchants the visitor whose gaze may linger on an exquisitely carved wooden window frame, an 18th century bronze sculpture or the spiritually uplifting stupas. Like any big city, Kathmandu has seen rapid expansion in the last decade, but despite the hustle and bustle so typical of metropolitan cities, its people remain as refreshingly friendly as ever. Retaining its ancient traditions, Kathmandu is blessed by a Living Goddess and is enriched by endless ceremonial processions and events that take to the streets every now and then with throngs of devotees seeking blessings. These religious festivals are steeped in legend and are quite a spectacle with chariot processions and masked dancers often possessed by the spirits of deities.
Pokhara
Pokhara sub-metropolitan city is the second largest city of Nepal is situated about 200 km west of the capital Kathmandu. Pokhara’s fascinating beauty has been the subject of many travel writers. Its pristine air, spectacular backdrop of snowy peaks, serene lakes and surrounding greenery make it ‘the jewel in the Himalaya’, a place of remarkable natural beauty. With the magnificent Annapurna range forming the backdrop and the serenity of three major lakes Phewa, Rupa and Begnas – Pokhara is the ultimate destination for relaxation.
Sarangkot
It is the most popular tourist destination from where the tourist can enjoy the great view of the Pokhara Valley and the magnificent view of the mountains. Many tourists come to Sarangkot for sunrise view. From Sarangkot, on the northern direction we can see Dhaulagiri in the far west. Annapurna range is visible when the weather is clear on the same side. On the southern direction the village overlooks the city of Pokhara and its lake on the north-western outskirts of the city.
Chitwan
If you are a wildlife lover there are many conservation areas and national parks in Nepal. Among them, Royal Chitwan National Park (a world natural site declared by UNESCO) is the most popular safari destination covering an area of 932 sq. km. The major attractions of the park are one-horned rhinoceroses, royal Bengal tiger, Leopard, spotted deer, sloth bear, four horned antelope, dolphin and crocodile. The diverse ecology is home to around 600 plant species, 50 mammal species, 526 bird species and 49 species of amphibian and reptile. Sal trees (shorea robusta) and 1.1m tall elephant grass dominate the jungle. One can explore the wild world by foot, by jeep and dugout canoe or on the back of an elephant.
Lumbini
The birth place of the lord Buddha is said to be the foundation that represents world peace. Geographically situated in Rupandehi district of West Nepal on the borders of Nepal & India; Lumbini stands to represent a significant site of pilgrimage that must be carried out once in a lifetime for all Buddhists throughout the world, which is the equivalent of Christians who visit Bethlehem & Jerusalem, the birthplace of ‘Jesus Christ’.
