The palace was converted into a museum after Nepal was declared a democratic republic in 2008. The palace has paintings and artifacts of former royals of the Shah dynasty.
Later we head to Kashmiri Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Nepal. The first Muslim immigrants built this mosque and this has been a gathering place for the small Muslim community in Kathmandu for centuries. The tombs of Sufi mystics Shah Miskeen and his nephew who came to Nepal during the reign of King Pratap Malla are enshrined inside the mosque. A few steps away is the much larger and newer Jame Masjid. Prayer services at both these mosques are held in Arabic.
Afternoon we take a delightful drive to the hill resort of Nagarkot. After reaching Nagarkot we check into our hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

As Nagarkot offers commanding views of the Himalayan peaks, we wake up early to catch the sunrise over the Himalayan peaks. The sun rising slowly over snowy peaks and verdant hills, colouring them in warm hues of golden, red and orange is a heavenly sight to behold. After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu.
