Sun Koshi River Adventure

A fun-filled river adventure…

Experience the thrill of riding on Sun Koshi or the ‘river of gold’.  A delightful drive past ancient Newari settlements and hilltop villages brings us to a sleepy town of Barabise, our put in point. From Barabise we paddle to Dolalghat maneuvering our raft or kayak through rocks and eddies. A night spent by the side of a river in a tented camp, with a bonfire party thrown in adds more spice and makes this an adventure to remember.

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Day 2: Drive to Barabise put in point ( 2-3 hrs paddle ) Overnight  at  tented camp.

Day 3: After breakfast Paddle up to Dolalghat and drive back to Kathmandu

Day 4: Kathmandu- Free Day

Day 5: Depart Kathmandu

Day 1 – Arrive Kathmandu

Transfer from airport to hotel. A representative from our office will be there to receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport.  At the hotel, you will be briefed on your itinerary.

Day 2–Drive to Barabise, put in point of Rafting or kayaking / Overnight at tented camp

After an early breakfast, we head east to Sindhupalchowk. Driving on the smooth Araniko Highway, we drive past traditional Newari villages and terraced fields till we reach Barabise, the put in point of our river adventure. We drive down to the sandy banks of Sunkoshi River. After a short briefing by our river guide, we hit the rapids of the fast flowing river and paddle away.  

We set up camp by the riverside at a sandy beach.  As darkness falls we light up a bonfire and share stories and sing the night away.

Day 3 – Paddle up to Dolalghat and drive back to Kathmandu

After breakfast we continue with our river adventure and continue paddling our way to Dolalghat. Later we board a vehicle and drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 4 – Kathmandu – Free Day

You can spend the day as you wish. Evening, enjoy a traditional Nepali feast and a lively Nepali cultural programme.

Day 5 – Depart Kathmandu

Our representative will drop you at the airport on time to catch your return flight.
